What is south beach diet?
The south beach diet is a diet that was created by cardiologist Arthur Agaston with the help of dietician Marie Almon. It was created as an alternative to low fat diet eating habits. Dr Agatston created it with the intention of reducing chances of heart diseases in his patients, but the south beach diet gained massive popularity as a weight loss technique.

The name south beach diet is a trademark of the South beach Diet Trademark Limited that was involved in the partnership of producing the diet. So popular was the diet, that a book, the south beach diet was written and published by Rodale books.
Step 2
How the south beach diet works
The south beach diet has a very simple working principle whereby it works by replacing bad carbs and fats with good fats and carbs. Agastston noted that hunger cycles are triggered foods rich in carbohydrates that the body is able to digest very quickly. This creates a quick rise on the blood sugar level.
Step 3
Foods that have these properties are usually the refined sugars and grains that are used in most junk foods. The south beach diet removes these carbohydrates through unprocessed foods such as vegetables and whole grains. Agastston main aim of this diet was to reduce and discourage fats. The south beach diet replaces these bad fats with foods rich in unsaturated fats and that help to provide the required type of cholesterol.
Step 4
How to follow the south beach diet
Changing from one diet to another is usually very hard because it is a habit and to move from one habit to another you require replacing that habit with a new one gradually. Due to this Agastston divided the south beach diet into three phases. The first phase lasts for fourteen days. Its main focus is on Lean meat nuts and salads. During this phase, candidates should avoid bread, pasta, candy, baked goods and alcohol.
Step 5
Phase two starts for the next two weeks. During stage two of the south beach diet, add steak, roasted chicken and salads to the diet. In this stage you can take fruits some wine and very light beer. Phase 3 comes is a little bit less strict, here you can eat any food but avoid foods containing saturated fats, induced sugars and high glycemic indices. Omega 3 fatty acids, whole grains and wine are allowed in this phase.
Tips to use when following the south beach diet
Try using south beach products which are approved by the south beach diet. The south beach diet requires that you use sugar free jell o or almond extracts that is sweetened with a sugar substitute. After doing a long distance it is beneficial to take oatmeal and pasta so as to keep your blood level stable.
You should be patient when using the south beach diet and do not expect to see results in hours or after two days by first trying to get used to the diet and give it some time and you will get the beat weight loss results.
