How To Set Up Email on a New Computer

One of the first things people like to do when just purchasing a new computer is to set up email. Email is a way that people can communicate to one another and it is usually free. Everyone is so busy with work and home life that the phone is barely used to communicate. Instead, folks use email to correspond and check up on one another.

Step 1

In order to set up email, you'll need to log into your computer. This means, you'll need to turn your computer on and allow it to load completely. Once its loaded, type in your log in name and password. Once you're officially on your desktop, you will need to decide which Internet browser you'd like to use and click the desktop icon for that particular browser. You also can find the available browsers through the computers start menu, followed by clicking programs.

When you want to set up email, you'll need to pick from one of the popular email providers available to you. There are quite a few, such as Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, Inbox, Live and so many more. After you've researched the best email for you, you will need to go to the email providers home page and click create account.

Set up email is easy from here. Once you're on the email providers home page and have clicked create account, you then will need to fill in the required information to set up your email. Most of the time, email providers will ask for your name, location, desired screen name, desired password, other email address, telephone number and then they will ask you to enter a captcha code, to ensure you're not a robot using emails for spamming purposes. Fill in all of the information to the best of your ability.

Step 4

You've set up email now. So the next step is to change the settings to what you want on the settings tab on your email set up. You can change the way you receive the emails, the interface, the colors, the font and other personalized options.

Now you'll want to test out your new email you've just set up. You can do this by hitting compose on the emails interface. All you'll need to do is enter an email address, a subject and a message. Hit send once you've completed these steps and check to make sure the recipient has received your email.

The process of setting up an email is fairly simple, it only usually takes a good five minutes to complete all the tasks. In order to set up email, you'll want to make sure you're using all legitimate and factual information, just in case you happen to forget the log in info for your email, you'll want to make sure you're able to retrieve the information by using your factual information.
