Introduction

Have you ever travelled by bus? You saw you had to pay a ticket. Have you ever travelled by train or airplane, or even by boat? Again, you had to pay your ticket. It doesn’t matter if it’s about an event, or if you are travelling of if you are just staying in a hotel somewhere in the world. You will have to pay a fee for the services that you are using, fee that is reflected on tickets, and on any other product that you might want to buy. These prices are not fixed; they may vary due to certain economical factors that influence them either positive or negative. Lately the price on tickets has started to vary, but mostly to grow. How can we know when the price on tickets will grow and why is it fluctuating? Can we do something to benefit from this fluctuation?

The USD – EUR parity

One of the main causes for the growth or decrease of the prices on tickets is the dollar – euro parity (the parity represents the equality between prices of the foreign exchange currency, in our case the European trading currency and the American trading currency). Most of the prices set on tickets are calculated and represented either in euro or in dollars. Due to the global situation and global financial crisis, the values for these trading currencies fluctuates, thus making the prices on tickets to decrease or to grow. Theoretically if someone watches the fluctuation for a period of time, he might be able to predict on short notice how the fluctuation will be.

Traveling tickets

When it comes to tickets for the airplane or booking tickets for special travels in the summer or for the winter holidays, the prices on tickets differ due to the booking date. This means that most of the travel agencies will have special offers in the winter for travels made in the next summer and other special offers in the summer or in the autumn for travels made in the winter. These prices on tickets also depend on the US – Euro parity and on the taxes that the respective country imposes. So the best way for you to get cheap tickets is either watch for a period of time the parity’s fluctuation and buy when the course is down or to keep looking for offers and wait for the ones in extra season.

The inflation level

Another reason for tickets’ price fluctuation is the inflation level from that specific country. Every country has a specific inflation level. The inflation represents a persistent increase in the level of consumer prices or a persistent decline in the purchasing power of money, caused by an increase in available currency and credit beyond the proportion of available goods and services. So in plain words, the inflation appears when people have more money than the products available for them to buy. This is probably the main cause why the prices on tickets has known a great increase in the several past years, and will probably know in the following years too.
