Introduction
Google Maps is a very simple name for such a robust and powerful feature. In comparison to traditional paper maps, Google Maps is usable on numerous digital devices including desktops, laptops, tablet PCs, and smartphones. This means just about anyone can make use of Google Maps for directions because nearly everyone on the planet either has some type of digital device now or will probably have one in the very near future as prices come down and Internet access becomes more widely available.
This feature takes the process of mapping directions to a whole new level, in some regards. Instead of a reasonably intelligent human manually plotting out directions, the developers of the Google Maps feature designed it to automatically plot out your directions, from Point A to Point B. You can add pit stops and midpoints in between your starting point and destination on the map. People tend to discover new routes that can cut travel time for a daily commute or for a vacation route by car.
Google Maps are also interactive, which is something that most users expect in anything that concerns using the Internet. Google uses the same "account management" setup as many other major online web portals, such as Yahoo. and Windows Live. After you create an account with a user name and password, you can save numerous Google Maps, online, and access those directions later on when you need them.
Before you can maximize your use of Google Maps, you must first input your directional data into the Web-based form.
Step 1
Navigate to the Google home page to begin the process of creating maps with directions. Simply type www.Google.com in the address bar at the top of your Internet browser. Press the Enter key to bring up the Google home page. Click on the "Maps" link at the top of the website.
Alternatively, you can go directly to the Google Maps website by typing the following address in the bar: http://maps.Google.com. Bookmark or favorite this link if you are going to frequently visit the Google Maps website for directions.
Step 2
Click the "Get Directions" button at the top of the Google Maps Google maps.
Step 3
Type in your current location in field "A" or "My Location" on the Google Maps webpage. This is the starting point in your directions. For example, if you need directions from your physical home to a local business, you would enter your address like so: 123 Any Street, Any City, Any State, 10001. Press the Enter key.
Step 4
Type in your destination in field "B." This is the end point of your directions in Google Maps. If you dont know the exact location of a business, type in its name and city. For example, if your town only has one Olive Garden restaurant or one mall, type its name in the field. Place a comma afterward and then enter the city.
Step 5
Press the "Get Directions" button. Wait for Google Maps to plot out your directions.
Tips
In many cases, you can go directly to a company's official website and find a link for Google Maps. Then you can plot directions to and from the business.
