Advantages To Using Google Translate

Introduction

Google Translate was introduced as an alternative translation method to what is used by other translating services. You can only understand how the process to translate Google works if you first know how automatic translation functions. Automatic translation, also known as machine translation (MT) translates a language using computer software.

Generally, there are two translation levels. The first level is translation word for word. A computer tries to match each word to similar word in another language. The second level is when the computer ties to combine the translated words into this language to make the flow more natural. This is the hardest step as a machine cannot be good as a human being. It requires having many algorithms inputted by people.

This is the point where Google Translator is used. Google avails its stock of information on Google translator. History

Google Translate was introduced in April 2006 for Arabic languages. SYTRAN based translator that is used by other translation services was used to translate Google for other languages such as Russian and Chinese. In May 2011, Google announced that it would discontinue the functioning of Google Translate API in December as it had denigrated. It cited economic burden due to extensive abuse as the reason for its decision.

Google was widely condemned for its plan to shut down API that was already in use by several websites. Developers questioned the feasibility of using Google API for their products.In June 2011, Google succumbed to public pressure and cancelled its plan to terminate Translate API. On the same day, Google announced that it would release paid version of Translate API. It is practical to translate Google when the target audience is English. An extra functionality is required for translation to other languages.

Google Translate has features that make it to have advantages over translation services. One advantage is that it is user friendly and it only requires a user to follow the steps provided. The other advantages to users when they need to translate Google are:
