Introduction
A healthy body is one that is free of disease, pain or injury and has all the external and internal body functions operating at peak efficiency. However, a healthy body does not qualify one, to be considered as having attained a state of well-being.
Wellness is closely associated with an individual’s lifestyle .It can be defined a process of proactive decisions that help an individual achieve optimum levels of health, social and emotional operation. .Each person is faced with such choices everyday; Nutrition, Exercise, Meditation, controlling risk factors such as smoking and drug abuse. Wellness focuses on the whole individual, a healthy mind, body and spirit.
Let’s look at a few of the steps to take, in order to achieve this balance:
Step 1
Proper nutrition and hydration:
A balanced diet is essential in every meal. The nutrients provided by either food group, develop each part of the body uniquely. Avoid processed foods such as white floor or bread and take more100% whole grain. Fruits and vegetables are highly recommended as almost all fruits and vegetables are naturally low in fat and calories and none have cholesterol.Hydrate throughout the day by drinking clean water which unlike sodas or juices has no calories .Eight glasses of water daily, is an example of a recommended intake.
Exercise
Exercise burns extra calories and helps control weight. It helps to deliver oxygen and nutrients to your tissues giving you more energy to work more efficiently.Exercising also improves your physical appearance which could boosts your confidence and improve your self-esteem. When you look good you feel great!
Step 2
Meditation and Reading
A gentle and calm spirit goes a long way in helping one make sound decisions.Meditation releases the stress and tension from your mind and from your body, and makes you calmer and more focused. It also helps you overcome anxiety and worry, and experience inner peace. Some choose to meditate through prayer, yoga or just taking a vacation to scenery location. Reading helps to exercise, expand and challenge the mind. Knowledge eliminates ignorant positions of operating life and helps to make better informed decisions thus improving life as a whole.
Proper rest
Sleep helps the body repair itself, provide clarity and recharge the brain. A rested mind and body can get a lot more done in fewer hours thus maximizing results. It is important to maintain a stable and consistent sleep cycle as maximum rest is achieved this way.
Step 3
Medical checkup
An annual medical checkup is your role in preventative care. Its aim is to make sure that your body functions are operating normally. Proper adjustments and precautions are taken well in advance in case any abnormalities detected. This helps maintain the body in good health saving any future body agonies.
Detoxify
Detoxify your life. This helps the body get rid of all the toxins that it is exposed to everyday; emotionally, nutritionally, or socially. Whether you decide to detoxify through your diet or by taking more time to emotionally recharge yourself, it goes a long way in helping you keep your life in check and sane.
Socialize
Hang out with your friends, enjoy life and laugh a lot. Take up a hobby and team up with people who enjoy doing the same things as you. This helps to reduce stress and makes life easier somehow. Share your problems because as they say, a problem shared is a problem half solved. No man is an island.
Tips
Achieving a healthy body and wellness just needs you to make small, attainable goals that are just a step up from your current habits. Start small and keep momentum. In this way, you are setting yourself up for success, not failure.
