Introduction
One the the keys to looking your best is having clear, natural skin as a foundation. A natural looking complexion should be the goal of everyone, men and women. Because of this, good skin care should be the focal point of any beauty or maintenance regimen, whether you wear makeup or not. Even the best skin will look dull and lifeless without the proper skincare or if the wrong makeup is chosen. Always begin with the best natural skin possible. This means finding the right skin care system for your skin type. If you are not sure where to begin, consult with a dermatologist or do research on the internet for options.
Step 1
To cleanse your skin, wet your face and neck with warm water or a warm washcloth. Use your fingers to work the cleanser into your skin for at least one minute. If you need a deeper cleaning action, use your washcloth or a complexion brush instead of your fingers. Rinse with warm water followed by cool or cold water to close your pores. If you use a toner to remove any residual makeup or cleanser then just rinse with warm water.
Step 2
For daily cleaning, follow your cleaning routine with a moisturizer. Use a daily moisturizer with an SPF of at least 15 for the best sun protection or use a richer cream at night.
Step 3
Once a week, follow the your cleansing routine with either a facial mask or an gentle exfoliating product. To increase the effectiveness of each product, do not rinse your face with cool or cold water before using them. Allow the facial mask to dry or if it is not a mask that dries, leave it on for as long as comfortable before rinsing it off. For the exfoliation product, follow the instructions and be gentle. Follow your mask or exfoliation product with a combination of a warm then cool water rinse.
Step 4
Once you have a good skin care system in place, chose the right foundation for your skin. Enlist the aid of experienced sales people at the makeup counter for help. The right foundation will blend well to create the natural skin you want. Your foundation should never look like a mask. If it does, then you have either chosen the wrong foundation for your skin type or you have applied too much.
If you chose the right foundation but have trouble applying it properly, use a sponge for more control over the application. For a natural skin look you should apply just enough foundation to give your skin an even look. The foundation itself should not be easily visible.
Step 5
Apply concealer after your foundation and then carefully blend it with by either lightly patting it onto you skin with your fingers or with a sponge until you achieve the natural skin look that you want. Let the concealer set for 30 seconds and then apply a light dusting of powder for long lasting wear.
Tips
- When you choose a skin care system, always give it at least 60 days to work to achieve your natural skin goals. The exception to this 60 day suggestion is if you have an allergic reaction to the ingredients. In that case, stop using the products immediately and try a different system. Your skin care products should never cause you to break out.
- For the most natural skin always choose the best brushes or sponges for your makeup application.
- Only apply foundation and concealer where needed.
- For the best foundation match, be prepared to buy more than one color in order to mix them for the perfect shade.
