How to find a hair salon
How to find a good hair salon doesn't have to be such a daunting task to do. By knowing that you are going to a good hair salon, you are knowing that someone will be less likely to damage your hair, thus making you have to spend more money later on in the future. By doing a lot of research, you will be able to come up with an excellent salon, who is sure to fit your needs as well as your wallet.
Step 1
The best place to start searching for a good hair salon is by word of mouth. Ask local friends and family who does their hair, and how long they have gone to that specific person. Find out how good of a job this person does, and if they have ever had a time they didn't like the hair style or color that they may have received from this specific salon.
Step 2
Check online for reviews of salons that you may be considering going to. By looking at online reviews you can get a good idea of how many people go to the salon, and how good of job this particular hair salon does for people. If needed, e-mail some of the people who left feedback on the salon, or call them (if they happened to have left their contact information on the website).
Step 3
Talk directly to the salons themselves, either on the telephone or in person. Speak to the manager as well as the head stylist over the salon and find out some more information about the company, and how long they have been in business. By speaking to a primary point of contact, you can usually gather whether this is a salon that cares for their customers, or could actually care less.
Step 4
Find out from the salon if they mostly style 'younger' or "older" people's hair, or if they do everyone and have various clients of all age ranges. Sometimes, some salons who are used to doing a bee-hive style for 70 year old women, may not do a good job on a 24 year old who enjoys having her hair straight and flat to the head.
Step 5
If you are unable to find out much information online, or have limited recommendations, then start in the yellow pages of the phone book. Get an ink pen and note pad, and take notes on who you called, and who your point of contact was at that particular salon. Ask lots of questions so you will get a good feel of how their salon operates.
Tips
Remember if you go to a salon and are not happy with the results, most are willing to work with you financially, or do re-do your hair for free.
Be sure when calling salons that you ask for prices and find out if it is seperate for a cut, color, and blow dry. Some places include it all in one package, but some upscale salons do charge for every thing they do to your hair individually.
