What is an Inkjet Printer?

Types of Inkjet Printers

These printers use three main technologies. Continuous Inkjet, Piezoelectric Drop on Demand, and Thermal Drop on Demand.

Continuous Inkjet:

Printers using Continuous Inkjet can achieve up to 64,000 to 165,000 droplets per second. That said, it’s a very fast method of printing. Printers using Continuous Inkjet are most commonly used for industrial purposes.

Piezoelectric Drop on Demand:

Printers using Piezo Inkjet are able to host a large variety of inks that Thermal Inkjet, and Continuous Inkjet Printers cannot. While printers using Piezo Inkjet are sometimes used for consumer purposes, it’s most commonly used for commercial and industrial purposes.

Thermal Drop on Demand:

Printers using Thermal Inkjet use water-based inks, and are therefore cheaper to manufacture. Because of this, Thermal Inkjet printers are most commonly used for consumer purposes.

Pros

Efficient:

Inkjet printers are definitely efficient. They’re easy to use, and they require very little maintenance.

Photo Printing:

Inkjet printers are particularly good in the way of printing photos. If you’re looking to print high quality photos, this is the way to go.

Cheap:

Inkjet printers are generally cheap in comparison to laser printers.

Convenient:

Inkjet printers are light, and small. Whereas laser printers are bigger, and usually a little heavier.
