How To Print in Color With An Ink Printer

Introduction

So you have just purchased your new printer from the store and want to give it a test run to see how it does on those documents you have been eagerly waiting to print. But you get home and see the mass of cables and accessories and don’t know where to start. Not only that, but when you get it all set up and start to print that first page you realize the printer color is oddly shaded, or worse, the printer color is not there at all. There are a few ways to remedy this and you have to start at the basics to make sure the setup was correct.

 

 

 

Step 1

The first thing you should do is make sure you have installed all printer color cartridges into the printer. Check all of the packaging because at times these cartridges can be small and may get lost in the shuffle of other items. If you find one be sure to install it properly and attempt to print again to see if the printer color has improved or if it still needs to be adjusted. If there is no cartridge present in the packaging then ensure this printer was labeled as coming with printer cartridges. If it was labeled as coming with cartridges but none are present then contact the store you purchased the printer from and ask for an exchange or refund.

Step 2

 

Another great resource is also the instruction manual that the printer came with. Be sure to read through this and ensure you have installed all items correctly. There are many ways to install these cartridges improperly or to mix up the color cartridge with the black cartridge. This can be easily fixed and many modern day printers will let the user know if they have installed wrong cartridge. If you are sure that you have installed everything into the printer color correctly but are still getting odd printer color results then the next thing to do is troubleshoot the problem on your computer.

Step 3

Many printers come with their own software that lets you navigate the settings to make your printer run in top condition. There is also a “Help” section that often answers many of these questions that printer users have. Be sure to check this thoroughly as your problem may not be what you expect and you may have to navigate through the questions for a while before finding what you are looking for.

Step 4

If none of the above steps has worked then you can always call the help support line that is often offered by the manufacturer of the printer. This group of individuals has probably heard your problem with printer color and knows a quick way to resolve it. This may be the best step for those who have very little knowledge of computers but still want quality documents. The number can often be found on the instruction booklet inside the packaging and may have titles such as “help line” or “support desk”.
