Introduction
Life Flight is a network that provides air transportation services to those who are in need due to injuries, illness or other disasters that can cause a person to need medical care. They provide services in the Northwestern part of the United States. Membership in Life Flight has many benefits.
History
Air ambulance transportation has been around for many years. Since 1978, Life Flight has been offering air ambulance transportation to ill and injured people on the West Coast and Northwestern areas of the United States. Operations began in 1978 under the name of Emanuel Life Flight; they were the first air ambulance service offered on the west coast. When operating under the name of Emanuel Life Flight, this service was owned by Emanuel Hospital which is located in Oregon.
The merger of Emanuel Life Flight with Providence’s Health System Flight program took place in 1993. When this merger took place, Emanuel Life Flight transitioned to becoming the Life Flight Network.
Many years later, in 2006 there was a decision made to make Life Flight its own business where it could operate under its very own governance and organization. After much consideration, this was made possible in 2007 when Life Flight Network began operating on its own.
After Life Flight Network began operating as its own entity, they began to establish additional bases in Eugene, Oregon, Dallesport, Washington and Longview, Washington.
Evolvement of this air ambulance service brought about more growth and Life Flight Network was even given an award by the Association of Air Medical Services. In 2009, Life Flight Network was given the “Program of the Year Award” even though there were hundreds of other air ambulance providers competing for this same award.
Life Flight Network is now one of the biggest non-profit air medical programs in the United States of America. This comes as no surprise because their continued growth and commitment to provide excellent service to patients has been the stepping stone that has helped them get where they are today.
Membership and Excellence
Air and ground transportation is offered by the Life Flight network and their services span across the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West territories. They currently have 6 bases they operate out of and their radius is 150 miles of each base. Their ground transportation services are made available at 2 of their 6 bases. The 2 bases that offer ground services are Longview, Washington and Boise, Idaho.
Life Flight Network offers a paid membership program which is not intended to be a replacement to insurance but is a secondary cost-effective solution that can help a person with costs should they ever require air ambulance transportation. Price ranges are from $60.00 per year up to a lifetime membership that costs $1,000.00. More information can be found about the Life Flight Network membership online at: www.lifeflight.org.
Their network also accepts donations and currently operates as a 501(c) (3) organization which means they are a non-profit organization. Life Flight is committed to providing patients who are injured or ill a safe flight to the destination where they can receive the critical care necessary to sustain life.
Years of growth, compassion and integrity are the qualities that have led Life Flight Network to their status as a well known organization. For complete information about Life Flight Network you may visit their website at www.lifeflight.org.
