Driving Cars on the Beach

Introduction

Almost everyone of us would've had this deep down wish to drive on beach shores and waters after watching this happen a hundred times on TV. The person doing this on TV simply looks highly cool and we all wonder at least once that how cool and amazing it would be to drive a heavy duty car around a beach. We all would've wished to do the same. However, unfortunately driving a car on sand and shore waters is not as cool and easy as it appears, it is in fact one of the most difficult things to do.

Driving a car on beach sand and waters is not like ordinary driving that we do on smooth roads. It requires a lot of skill and control. When a car is made to drive on sand the tires of the car are pressed deep and there is an increased friction because of which the tires cannot move smoothly. The cars that we normally drive on roads cannot be used for driving on beach as their tires arent strong enough to hold against the strong power of friction provided by the beach sand and waters.

Also, the carcass of normal conventional cars is quite susceptible to external damage. So for driving on beaches we have special beach cars such as 4WD jeeps and SUVs (sport utility vehicles). These cars have strong tires that can fight against the friction and also these cars have a strong engine and brakes which can allow the cars to run smoothly even in high friction areas. The beach cars also provide a smooth momentum which is really important when driving on a beach.

Features

Though these beach cars, or jeeps and SUVs really, are strong and are built for driving in sandy and rocky areas, still certain skill and techniques are required to drive through a beach as driving through a beach isnt like driving on a road. Speed is a very important factor when driving on a sandy area or on a water shore. You cannot drive fast on a beach so dont even try. There is a limit to which your tires can fight off the friction, but in general the friction will not allow the car to move fast smoothly.

Many beach cars accidents are because of loss of momentum as drivers try to speed up the car. The car should remain at a steady pace and should not lose its momentum. The tires should not be allowed to sink into the damp sand and for that the car should not be driven too slow as well. A medium pace and steady momentum are the two major factors that are really important while driving beach cars. Also, durability and resistance of the external structure of beach cars is stronger than ordinary cars. These cars are more resistant towards external damage and water corrosion.
