Deer Lake Airport in Canada, for instance, dates back to 1953 while it became operational in 1955. The original terminal building was constructed in 1963 and was enlarged in 1975, 1980 and 1986. Similarly, other airports have variant histories.

Lake airports are usually very beautiful. Apart from the natural sceneries, there are also many manmade tourist attractions within the radius of the airport since the cities around these lakes are themselves small yet exquisite. For example, the Salt Lake City in the state of Utah is surrounded by mountains. It’s a popular ski destination and has many scenic national parks and recreational areas. Lake airports are usually small and not very busy. It is easier to catch a flight and very slight chances of missing it. However, it is important that the passengers must know about the environmental conditions and weather of the particular lake they are visiting. There are no regular flights at some lake airports due to which it is important to make prior confirmations. For example at Elliot Lake situated in Ontario, Canada there is an Elliot Lake Airport but during the winters it has as low temperature as -17 degree centigrade. In other parts of the world, where various lakes have airport facilities are very variant in nature due to climate, topography and some only offer flights on certain occasions or festivals. Therefore, it is necessary that the people intending to spend their vacations on lakes must make proper arrangement.
