Introduction
Hobby airport is a public airport in Houston Texas. The airport covers over 1000 acres and has about four runways. It is the oldest commercial airport and was the city's main air terminal until the opening of Houston Intercontinental airport now called the George Bush International airport in the late 60's...Hobby now serves as a secondary airport handling domestic services.
History
Hobby Airport began its operations in early 19 20's as a private landing field.the field was acquired by Houston City and was later named Houston Municipal Aiport.it was later changed to Horward R.Hughes Aiport since Hughes was responsible to most of the improvements in the airportexample the first control power .The name was later changed back to Houston Municipal Airport since Hughes was leaving and the Government could not fund it when named after a living person.In 1969 the airport was named after the former governor of Texas,William P.Hobby and then the Bush Intercontinental Aiport was built in the same year.

Hobby airport has only one Central Concourse terminal
Hobby airport handles domestic services for six commercial airlines and it is an international point of entry for aviation activity between Texas and Mexico. Hobby airport has is cheaper in its carrier operations than Bush Intercontinental airport and hence offers more flights. In a current research Hobby airport has been given number one for customer satisfaction among the small airlines. Some of the developments at Hobby airport in the 2000s include a new concourse to serve Southwest Airlines and to upgrade of the runway and a terminal renovation project was announced that will update the ticket counters, lobby areas and baggage claims
Artwork
There are several artworks in and on the airports ground. Take Off is a stainless bird’s nest showing interwoven branches created using industrial materials. The nest is 30 feet wide and is held 20 feet above the ground by three steel tree trunks. The nest is depicted floating above a subtropical garden. Take Off is located at Hobby’s Broadway Street entrance.

Courtesy vans
These vans are offered by hotels and motels in and out of Houston. The airport offers courtesy telephones in the baggage claim areas to regulate pick up from most of the hotels and motels.
Shuttle service
This service can be found in the baggage claim area this include a shared ride shuttle. Super shuttle takes reservations and picks up travelers at their homes or businesses and transports them to the airport and vice versa.
