Introduction
York is a city from England, on the East Coast of Main Line. You can get there from London by rail, on a less than two hours trip. The railway station in York is located on the west side of the city.
Step 1
Sadly, there is no York airport. If you want to fly, the closest York airport is in Leeds. You can easily get to York from Leeds, by rail or by bus that comes every 30 minutes. In town, you can use the bus, even if you don’t know the places, because you have the option of having a guide. A bus ticket is available for a whole day, no matter how many buses you take.
Step 2
Even with the lack of a York airport, this city has lots of tourists and the prices per night at a pension or hotel are quite accessible. York is the most beautiful town from the Northern England. It has ancient defense walls, museums and extraordinary churches. This town gave the name of the famous committee Yorkshire, the biggest one from the entire country. What attracts mostly in this city, without any York airport, is the medieval streets’ network, from Gillygate and Davygate, to Fossgate Goodramagate and Stonegate.
Step 3
The best period to visit York is the spring or fall. Then, you can find cheaper plane tickets to Leeds Bradford airport. Leeds is at a distance of 45 minutes by car, of York. There are hundred of flights that arrive there, most of them because of the lack of a York airport, but also for many international destinations. There are lots of trains also from Manchester to York, if you decide to take the plane to Manchester, due to the fact that there is not a York airport. From all the parts of England you can travel to York, by car or rail.

Not knowing that there is no York airport, I was hoping to go there by plane, last year, for a business trip.

I was very disappointed when I found out that there isn’t a York airport, even if York is such a special place, well known by people from the whole world. However, one of my colleagues told me that UK has a great motorway network.
Tips
How I love to ride the motorcycle, I went by plane in London and there I have rented a motor. I have traveled North, on the M1, until I have arrived to the A64 intersection. They I have entered the city in about 15 minutes.

York is an amazing city and I really believe that is my favorite one from all the United Kingdom. It has a certain atmosphere that makes you never want to leave, or if you really have to, swear that you will return. The fact that it doesn’t have any airport only makes it keep its ancient charm, so if you have to go there, be sure that you know about your trip on time, so that you consider your traveling options, without the existence of an airport.
