However, always remember, all shades are not equal, degree of shades change with season every year as it changes every day with the time.
History
If you want to plant some trees in your garden house you must know how “shade’ is defined in gardening terminology. “Shade” has been defined as “how long the area remains out of sunlight”—once you have recognized this fact in respect to your garden, you can plan and select plants for your garden house accordingly.
Shades are classified in four groups.
• Partial Shade
• Partial Sun
• Dappled Shade &
• Full Shade
Plants of “partial shade” category demands special care and protection from the intense heat of late afternoon sunlight. They should be planted either on the east side of your home or under the shade of a tree.
Plants of “partial sun” should be supported with some minimum amount of sunlight.
“Dappled Shade” and “partial Shade” are almost similar. The plants under this category prefer limited direct exposure from partial shade. ‘Dappled’ denotes spotted, a mixture of light and shade, one type of diffused sunlight.
The plants under this “full shade” category are suitable for a direct exposure of sunlight but never exceeding three hours a day. However, “full shade” does not necessarily mean “no sun”.

Special considerations for gardening in shade
You must consider few points when you are creating a shade garden at your garden house shade. If the shade plant for your garden house is to be planted under the shades of other trees, it has to compete with others for own food and water. Since the soil is depleted in water and nutrients, regular water and feeding program should be a must. The soils under the conifers are mostly found to be more acidic, so the soil should be tested to determine the acidic level. Many woodland plants grow perfectly in slightly acidic soil with pH 6 & pH 6.5. There are other plants like Blueberries, Rhododendrons and Azaleas they grow excellently in soil with pH factor 5.5.
If the shade is the result of other trees, you must remember, water dripping from overhead branches may damage the infant plants; it is also another good cause of land erosion.
Spring is the best season of the year to start with your garden house shade garden. The temperature is moderate, rain is sufficient, the roots get enough time to get set and established before it is too hot and dry.
