Get the Best Offers When Selling Your Home
When selling your home you want to, of course, get the most money possible for your home. There are some steps that you can take in order to help ensure that your home is shown in the best light possible. This will make your home more desirable and will usually bring in more and better offers. Take some time before you list your home to take care of any eye sores and to showcase every attribute that your home has. When the offers start rolling in, you will be glad that you did.
Step 1
- Landscape. If you do not have the time or the skill, bring in someone who does. Your home having a beautiful front and back yard could do a lot to get it sold at the best offer. Also remember how important curb appeal is. If a car pulling up to your home is treated to unruly buses, dead grass, a cracked driveway and peeling paint on the door, they may just decide to keep driving right by. Never knowing how beautiful your home is on the inside. Keep in mind that the outside of your home is important.
Step 2
- Remove clutter and family photos and momentos. These are great to have in your home, however, the new potential homeowners do not like to see so many personal objects. The new homeowner should be able to imagine the home with their momentos inside. Clutter will make the house look smaller and messy. Large collections can be put in storage as can a majority of furniture, books and other household items. The house should look spacious and homey, without it looking fulled to the brim.
Step 3
- Hire a Realtor. While some homeowners try to save money by selling their home alone, you will generally sell it faster and for a higher price with a Realtor. There is a reason that they are doing what they do. They have more experience than you and will have better ideas and options. They want your house to sell and are working for you to get it sold so they get paid. You may want to discuss holding an open house. This is a good way to get many people in to see your home at one time. This may increase your chances of getting an offer.
Tips
Have someone with an impartial eye take a walk through of your home. Often times, when we live with certain things for so long, we may not notice them. This could be an easily fixed crack in a wall, a loose piece of hardware or even a dirty switch plate. Anything easily fixed should be done before the house is shown.
Take the advice of your Realtor, after all you are paying them for their expertise, you may as well use it. They know and understand the market and the best ways to get a house sold.
Remember that taking a little less for the house now is often better than leaving your house sitting empty while waiting for a buyer. Be realistic in the price you are asking.
