Turning Your Home Bath Into a Relaxing Oasis
Your home bath can be your quiet oasis at the end of a long day. In fact, your home bath is one of the easiest rooms to decorate and since the home bath is usually one of the smaller rooms, it is not all that expensive to do. The home bath is also a good place to splurge since it is so much smaller than other rooms. If you have a nice big tub in your home bath, that is great and you are already in great shape to get that oasis, but if not, do not despair, you can always work with what you have.
Step 1
Inexpensive Options
- Paint. Choose a relaxing color. For small a small home bath, you may want to use a light color to make it appear larger. You will want your home bath to look open and airy.
- Choose luxurious accessories. Big thick over-sized bath towels are a great addition. If your shower needs a shower curtain, choose a fabric one that looks sumptuous and inviting.
- Hang artwork. Pick a piece of artwork that you love. There is no rule that says such items have to be in the living room where everyone can see them. Why not put it in your home bath so you can enjoy it at the end of a long, hard day.
- Accessorize. Choose a waste basket, towel holders and other items that go well with your home bath theme. Whether your happy place is a country garden, a beach, or a chic city location, let your accessories show that theme.
- Candles. What is an oasis spa without candles. Large candles make a bigger impact. Choose scents that make you feel good.
Step 2
- Tile. While tile is more expensive than painting, it is long lasting and easy cleanup. It is also something that most homeowners can do on their own.
- Have a large soaking tub put in. If you do not already have a tub big enough to soak and relax in, you are truly missing out. After a hard day filling the tub with bubbles and lighting some candles feels wonderful. You will love this addition to your home bath.
- Install a heater. Stepping out of the tub or shower and not instantly shivering during the cold winter months is something that you will truly appreciate. Everyone in the family will appreciate a heated home bath.
- Enlarge your home bath. While this tip requires the most work, it will definitely go a long way toward making your home bath the oasis you desire. Many times a closet next to the bath or a small room or office right next to the home bath can be converted. A wall knocked down will give you all that extra space. Space that can be used for a larger vanity, or a walk in shower for two.
- Add a new window. If your home bath faces the yard or a beautiful view, take advantage of it with a new window.
Step 3
Tips
You will want to hire professionals or at least bring in someone skilled in construction before knocking down walls to expand your home bath.
A licensed plumber will also be needed for jobs such as installing your soaking tub or walk in shower. Anytime you are moving pipes for plumbing it is best to hire a professional.
