Introduction
The Riverside Home refers mostly to a building (house type) that is located in the vicinity of a river, although in a few cases, the riverside home can be found near a lake too. If you are interested in buying a Riverside Home, here are some tips for choosing your Riverside home.
Step 1
1. Find a good neighborhood. If you have the financial power and are willing to buy a house you should first consider the neighborhood in which you will move. First of all it should be as close as possible to your workplace so you will not have to travel a lot daily. Another aspect of the neighborhood is how quiet it is. Living in an agitated neighborhood may lead to a stressful life and thus stress related diseases (such as cardiovascular and stomach diseases). Also you could be careful to the crime rate of the neighborhood.
Step 2
2. After you have found a neighborhood that suite you the best (not necessarily a quiet and calm one) you will have to pick for yourself a Riverside home. Here you will have to be careful at the house’s state – you should watch out for cracked walls, leaking pipes (and the types of pipes, how old are they), and also the building’s age.
Step 3
3. Another important aspect would be the distance to the river (or lake). In my opinion this is the most important aspect, because depending on your country’s weather you might have flooding problems in the spring if the river (or lake’s) height and depth increases significantly. Also in some countries the sewer network is dumped into the rivers (with a greater or smaller level of filtering). Another danger might occur when a stormy weather is near. The wind speed is significantly increased if you have the first house near the river because the wind does not encounter any obstacles in its path.
Step 4
4. Also if your Riverside home is built near a water line, you will have to be careful to the ground that it is built upon and the type of architecture (I’m referring to the structural strength) because a known issue with any riverside home is that the ground may have water infiltrations that weaken the structural strength.
Step 5
5. The good thing about having a Riverside home is that the air is more pure, the pollution level is slightly diminished and in the long hot summers, the temperature near the water will be a little bit lower. One of the bad aspects might be that during the summer time mosquitoes will appear near water lines. Another aspect that you should take into your consideration is the air’s humidity. If your lungs are more sensible you might encounter some breathing issue depending on the temperature outside.
Conclusion
With all these being said, in my opinion a Riverside home is a good acquisition because it is close to the water, making summers a little bit more fun and you might have the benefit of a very beautiful landscape too.
