How To Take the Best Home Picture For a Real Estate Website

Introduction

With a declining real estate market you will want to make sure that you take every opportunity to get the most exposure possible. With this exposure comes all the pictures that you will be taking for multiple websites that are all published online.

Did you know that the perfect picture can do one of two things, it will either bring in potential buyers or it will turn them away. You want to be the type who takes the home picture that will bring in buyers and no turn them away from the home before they even see it in person.

 

 

Step 1

Depersonalize the house before taking any home picture. This would involve taking down any family photos and anything family oriented (with their last name written on it or etc.). This is because you want a potential buyer to picture the home as their very own, not as another family living it in. You want them to imagine their items in the home!

 

 

Step 2

Let in loads of natural light in the home picture by opening all shades and or blinds as wide as possible.If it is at night, try to see if the owners will let you take pictures in the day time of the home. If this is not possible due to work or school schedules, then turn on every possible lamp and light in the home to get the best home picture possible.

 

Step 3

Make up all beds and make sure that there is no clutter on the floors laying around. You want the potential buyer to see the good in the home, not a big pile of mess that the owners children left. If you have to move items into closets to get them out of the way for the best home picture that you can get.

 

Step 4

If the room is small, and you want to make the floors appear larger take up any large rugs that may be in the center of the floor. By being able to see more of the floor, you are seeing less of the rug and showing the potential buyers all of the floor. Rugs will make all rooms look much smaller than they are.

 

Step 5

Make sure that you have a good digital camera for taking a home picture with. Digital cameras are much easier to upload online than a print off photo would be. Typically you will get a better photo by having the flash on the camera turned off and all inside lights in the home turned on. The problem with a flash is that sometimes a flash will defeat the bright lights in the windows coming through. You should always take several pictures so once you get back to your office you are able to choose the best one out of a series of photos!

Remember, they most important places in a home to photograph are the frontal view of the home, the living room, kitchen and or breakfast areas, formal dining room and if the home has a master bath and fireplace always photgraph those in the best angle possible thus creating the most picture possible!
