How To Make Your Home Cats Friendly

A cat's home is also your home. When you are thinking about adopting a new furry little addition to your family, you will need to make your cats home comfortable for them. Cats are relatively easy animals to take care of and do not require a lot of work on your part. However, they will need to have items in their home that will keep them happy and healthy. To make your home cats friendly, you should prepare with everything that you need before they arrive. This way, your cat will feel safe and secure when they first come in to their new home.

Step 1

To have your home cats friendly, there should be no ways that a cat can escape into the great outdoors. Cats love to explore and get into new and exciting places. If you are going to have an indoors and outdoors cat, this may not be an issue for you. However, if you are planning to keep your cat indoors, there are a few places you will need to check in your house. Cats are able to squeeze through many small areas and wiggle their ways out. Check to make sure that window screens are not loose, that there are no holes in the windows, that doors close all the way, and there are no crawl spaces that lead to outside.

Step 2

A cats home should also have all of the essential items that they will need to live a happy life. The most important items of all are cat food, a food dish, and a water bowl. Cats water should be changed daily, as it will be sitting out. Water should be left out all day for your cats to drink, so they do not become dehydrated. Be sure to purchase a heavy water dish for your cats home so that they can not accidently knock it over when dipping their paws into the water. A food dish should also be one of your first purchases for your cats home. Cats can be fed once a day, twice a day, or have food left out for them. There are two choices of cat food that you can give your furry friends, wet food and dry food.

Step 3

Next, buy a cat bed to make a perfect home cats friendly. Some cats may enjoy laying in their beds, while others may not. You will never know until you get a bed for your kitten. Purchase one that is very soft and comfortable feeling. Place the bed in a location of your home that you think they will be attracted to. Some cats may simply prefer sleeping in other areas, such as the sofa or in your bed.

Step 4

Breakable items should always be put away or out of reach in a cats home. Cats do not mean to purposely knock items over, but it can sometimes happen. They love to jump up on furniture and get to places that are high off the ground. Ensure that your breakables are not near the edge of furniture for safety precautions. You can also eventually train your cat to stay off furniture.

Step 5

Fill your cats home will lots of different toys that they can play with. You can find a wide selection of toys at any pet store. Most cats love to play with stuffed mice, laser pointers, balls, and items that roll around by themselves. Catnip comes in lots of toys and is a stimulant that will make your cats hyper and playful. Switch up the toys often to give them something new to play with.
