Introduction
When going to buy a mp3 player you should do some comparison shopping. All mp3 players are different having different features. There are many mp3 players out on the market today with all providing different features. When selecting what mp3 player keep in mind the options that are important to you and how you will be using it, will you be running or exercising? Or will you just be casually listening and not moving around a lot?
Step 1
The most popular mp3 players on the market today are made by Apple with the iPod, Sony, Microsoft just to name a few. The iPod offers all the features of an iPhone except without the hassle of a monthly bill or contract. The iPod 2011 features a camera, with video quality being excellent, internet speed is fast with a powerful processor. Cons noted on the iPod are no in line microphone, speaker gets blocked too easy, and the dock connector does not sit aligned with the iPod.
Step 2
Some mp3 players have hard drives which are most generally more bulky and heavier than over mp3 players. They provide the largest storage space with up to 10 gigabytes or more of space. This equals to being able to have on your mp3 player 2,900 mp3 files. All mp3 players that have hard drives are not a good choice if you are going to be doing any kind of physical activity such as running or jogging as the movement will jarr the internal hard drive causing it to skip.
Step 3
Similar to hard drive based mp3 players is the micro hard drive. These are a bit smaller and hold up to a total of six gigabytes which equals around 1,700 mp3 songs. All of these type of players can experience skipping if there is too much movement. All of the micro and hard drive players most come with a rechargeable battery.
Tip 4
Flash based mp3 players are compact, small and have no moving parts either giving which results in no skipping unlike the previous mp3 players. All flash based players run on disposable type of batteries instead of the rechargeable ones. Storage capacity on these players are much smaller than hard drive based with storage being at around 32 megabytes or approximately 570 songs. If you have a fairly large music collection this player might not be for you.
Tip 5
Sony has a mp3 player called the Sony W-Series Walkman. This mp3 player is easy to use, is compact and small, has great audio, is water resistant, comes with 2 gigabytes. This player is easy to upload and charge. Some cons noted on the Sony are the bass range is not that good, is uncomfortable in your ears and does not come with a screen. Microsoft's Zune HD in 32 GB has received some great reviews. It has a long battery life, has ability to rent movies, has a HD radio tuner and an amazing OLED display with a music subscription combined. This player is not compatible with a Mac, there is no advanced controls for audio and you'll also need to buy an dock accessory for HD video output. The game selection is not that great. The Zune has Wi-Fi, high speed USB, comes with 3 sets of ear tips, supports the following audio formats; mp3, WMAPro, WMA, AAC and has a touch screen.
