The first is known as Extrinsic-Intrinsic Motivation. This motivation refers to the working of employees in order to gain something else. The process of changing the motivation of an extrinsic employee to intrinsic motivation is the key process to create a self-directed workforce. A jobs supervisor can employ any of the remaining six motivational factors to achieve this.

The second factor is success. It is the nature of humans to prefer to choose those tasks that they feel they can perform successfully, instead of the tasks at which they are unsuccessful. A jobs supervisor has the ability to make employees successful by giving them complete instructions, sufficient amount of resources, required training, and constructive feedback.

Feedback is the third factor. An employee can tell if he is performing successfully when he gets feedback. Feedback can come from jobs supervisor, peers and customers. The nature of the feedback can be written or oral. Job supervisors also need to give constructive feedback to the specific employees in order for them to understand the areas that require improvements. An employee that feels successful can in return boost their self-confidence. That is why feedback is very essential.
Step 4
The fourth factor is confidence. Employees are bound to be confident about achieving success when they believe that it is within their control. A jobs supervisor that gives good feedback, results in a confident employee.
Step 5
Now we discuss interest. If work is relating to something that an employee has interest in, he will be more motivated to perform in a better way. Job supervisors can ask their employees their areas of interests. Jobs supervisor needs to be very careful not to overlook employees' interests. This way it can avoid unduly raising of employees concern.

Employees need to have a reasonable level of concern. If they are not interested in performing well, a jobs supervisor may need to help boost their concern level by mentioning the consequences of bad performance. On the other hand, if employees are nervous or scared due to risks involved in the work, they won’t be able to perform well unless the level of concern is reduced.

The last factor involves feelings. Employees that work in comfortable work environments tend to put in extra effort. Therefore a jobs supervisor needs to maintain and build such an atmosphere where employees will feel valued and appreciated. All of these factors will help a jobs supervisor to get the best out of his employees. It will increase the chance of intrinsic employee motivation.
