With relevant work experience and qualification under your belt, you are on the right track to working in event jobs, but there is still work to be done. You now need to consider what route you wish to go down when it comes to earning money. You have the choice of either gaining an internship with an events company, or becoming self-employed. Before you make your decision, see if there are companies in your local area and what they have to offer. If there is nothing around, becoming self-employed is the best option for you.

- Entertainment (DJs, bands, singers etc)

It is worth bearing in mind that if you are liaising with a hotel when it comes to event planning they are likely to have an events team that you can work with.

- Create a portfolio of your ideas. When you approach potential employers for event jobs, or try to secure private clients, you will need to show that you are creative and ready to work.
- Even if you can't find work, talk to those who work in the industry. Building up good industry contacts is the key to securing work in the future.
