In theory it may sound like something that is easy to do. However, the reality is that in order to work jobs from home, you must learn to be disciplined and to set boundaries.

• Set up your home office. If you have an extra room, that is great. If not, you can set up your home office in any quiet out of the way location where you will not be disturbed. • Make a schedule. It is easy to get sidetracked when you work jobs from home. You may feel guilty when you are working because you feel you should be cleaning or spending time with the kids. Then when you are doing one of those other things, you feel guilt because you should be working. Make a schedule and stick to it. Schedule in time for work, time for family, time for chores and anything else that is important to you.

• Make sure that family and friends understand that just because you choose to work jobs from home, it does not mean that you can drop everything to visit with them, run errands for them or answer phone calls. It can be a photo of your home if you are working toward paying off the mortgage, a bill that is due, a photo of your children or a picture of a vacation destination. Anything that will motivate you to get working.

Tips

Be sure to schedule a day off for yourself. It is hard to do this at times when you have so much that you want to do and pay, but it is important. You do not want to get burned out on work.
