The only drawback in Google directions is that these images are not updated in very soon they usually take several months or years old to update images.
History
Due to the use of Mercator projectionGoogle directions skipped the images of areas around poles. A related product of Google directions is Google Earth, which is a complete stand-alone program which offers more comprehensive globe-viewing features, including showing polar areas as well. Google directions provides high-resolution aerial or satellite images for capturing the view of most urban areas all over the world. The current satellite imagery that is taking images for all over the world is over 5 years old. However, it is not so accurate as well for several places where urban architecture has been changed. Governments of few countries have complained about the images result potential that is also affecting their terrorists to use the satellite images in planning visiting those areas.
Features
Some areas in United States are blurred by Google for security including the areas of U.S. Naval Observatory where is the official residence of the Vice President of the United Sates is located. Few days back Google has also blurred the images of the United States Capitol and the White House. Some most common government installations, like Area 51 in the Nevada desert, are visible on Google Directions.
Google Directions keep the resolution of satellite images depending upon the areas which are supposed to be covered. However, less populated areas usually get less detail and some areas may be described ambiguously by the patches of clouds though Google Directions represent areas on the basis of their importance. It also has the feature of easily pan able and searchable mapping and satellite imagery tool which helps in satellite imagery.
Tips and comments
Google uses the word satellite for most of the high-resolution images for big cities and most of the imagery is in fact from satellites. The photography is known as aerial photography in which we take images from aircraft flying at 800–1500 feet instead of taking images from satellites. The aerial views images are not accurate; they occasionally coincide with known events. For example the event occurred in Oct. 8, 2011, the aerial view of the Hollywood region of Los Angeles shows the street-closures and temporary structures related to the 2011 Academy Awards ceremony.
