Introduction
Google is a very large, multinational corporation that has many business segments and software programs. To many people who are familiar with Google's products and programs, it is not important to differentiate these things on the surface. Many users take a certain comfort and relief that software has been developed by Google because the company has been in operation for more than a decade and has a good rapport with consumers and businesses.
However, if users want to get more effective use from Google's offerings, they might want to delve deeper into learning and understanding how to use its native Internet browser, Chrome, together with the traditional Google search engine, that made the company so popular and profitable.
The most obvious importance is whether or not a Google software program is installed on your PC or if it is Web-based, where you have to navigate to a website to access the feature. For example, to use the Google search engine, users simply navigate to www.google.com. After you enter a search term and press the Enter key, you are taken to about 10 results on the first page. Clicking on a link for another website takes your Internet browser away from anything having to do with Google if you use Mozilla's Firefox, Microsoft's Internet Explorer or Apple's Safari as your browser instead of Google's Chrome.
Ideally, fans of Google want to use both its native search engine and its browser at once. Of course, the company makes this a very easy and efficient task to carry out.
Step 1
Open the Google Chrome browser window on your PC if it is not already open. For example, if you use a Windows computer, you can click on the Start button on the taskbar at the bottom of the desktop. Click on All Programs on the Start Menu. Scroll and navigate the list of installed programs to find the Google Chrome icon. Click on this icon to open the browser.
Step 2
Type www.google.com into the address bar at the top of the browser. Pres the Enter key to go to the Google home page. Almost always, the home page features the search engine box.
Step 3
Enter your search terms in the Google search box and then press Enter. The website will return about 10 results in the Google Chrome browser.
Step 4
Click on the "Wrench" icon in the right hand corner of Google Chrome. Select "Options" from the menu which opens a new tab in the browser. Click on "Open This Page" in the home page section on the Basics tab.
Step 5
Type "http://www.google.com" into the field and then press Enter. Every time you open Chrome, the browser will automatically open the Google search engine.
Tips
- Add the Google search engine to your bookmarks so that you always land on the website when you open the Google Chrome browser.
