How To Create the First Blog Post on Your Blog

Introduction

It can be challenging to think of what to write for your first blog post. If you're trying to set your blog in a certain direction, youll want to start if off right especially if you're trying to establish yourself in a certain niche. 

Step 1

The first thing you'll want to do is introduce yourself. Think of it as an opportunity to give the readers a little example of who you are. Include anything that will be of interest to the readers, and relevant to your niche (the theme of your website). Try to make your readers familiar with who you are, so that you can gain their trust.

Next, you'll want to explain the reason for writing this blog. Try and get your readers to understand your motivation and reason for blogging. Make it as clear as you can what questions, issues, and topics that caused you to start your blog. You want them to feel just as  (or almost as) passionate about your blog and the issues you're covering as  you do. Provide information that will help your readers to stick around.

Step 3

Write what your blog is going to be about. This is where you let your readers know what to expect when they visit your website. Let them know what direction you're taking with your niche/theme, and the method you plan on addressing said theme. Is your blog a place to rant, or are you going to take a constructive approach to the topic at hand? 

Step 4

The final thing you need to make sure to do is encourage comments. Try to create an atmosphere that feels like a community for your readers. Reader participation is a rather large factor in the growth and popularity of a blog. Build this popularity by encouraging comments, disagreements and criticism. Make your contact information available. Make it seem like you're accessible to them. Make sure to clearly state your comment policy as well, to prevent spam and unwanted comments.

Step 5

Content is one of the most important things for a good, professional blog. By keeping up good content from here on out, and encouraging comments, you'll build a readership. Having good, loyal readers is important. Also, encourage new readers and study Search Engine Optimization to drive more traffic to your blog.
