This novel was later adapted as a film, which was also very famous. The mocking bird has many different species. It is well known for its voice. It has the ability to imitate the sounds made by other species. Apart from imitating others, the bird has its own unique sounds also.
History
This bird is mostly found in towns. Its sound is very appealing to anyone who chances to hear it. The mocking bird is widely known for it songs. The birds like to imitate others as well as sound of in their natural notes as well. The bird likes mixed places to live in. Meaning they like to have open spaces as well as dense shrubs and thickets. The birds are highly unique in their foraging manner. They like to wander on the ground for food. They may wait on a tree limb or high post to have a view of the insects around. Then they swoop in to pick up any they have found. While nesting, both the male and female help to build the nest. The mockingbirds mark their territory through singing in the area. They use various tunes to mark the area. This is mainly done by the male of the specie. The female of the specie uses singing to mark its territory during the winters. They sing in the area they want to mark for their food reserves. It has been found that the northern mocking bird add different sounds throughout their lives.
Features
These birds are highly territorial. They do not let anything interfere in their territory. Mocking birds will attack anyone which comes near their marked territory. They do not fear attacking humans or any other animal. Mocking birds do not behave in a regular manner. They sometimes exhibit behavior which doesn’t have any explanation. They may sing for hours and sometimes they may not sing for days. They like to dance at times, though no one knows why they do this.

Mocking birds usually mate for life. They return to each other every mating season. The male uses his song to attract the female. Many males remain without a mate for the whole of their lifetime. The male mate builds many different nests. Then the female chooses which one to mate in. there are usually three to four eggs during a season. When the eggs hatch, the male and female both take part in feeding the chicks. These birds like to wander in both the suburbs and the rural areas. They have no qualms whatsoever in building nests in the trees of a backyard. Mocking birds will come to eat fruit and bread placed in a birdfeeder.
