Minimum age criteria by FDA
FDA (The Food and Drug Administration US) has regulated certain policies and procedures for teenage plastic surgery facial aspects. As per those policies, there is age criteria fixed by FDA for undergoing plastic surgery facial by teenagers. FDA is the department administrating human and health services. Today, more and more people, especially teenagers undergo plastic surgeries which have made FDA to fix age criteria for them to avoid issues related with age. There are a lot of plastic surgeries offered by cosmetic clinics and hospitals that requires a minimum age criterion for teenagers to go through.
Liposuction
Though there is no specific age limit for this plastic surgery facial, 17 or 18 are the age criteria that a teenager must hold. Besides this, issues of teenagers regarding emotional and psychological aspects must also be considered well. It is a known fact that teenagers and younger people more prone to fuzzy body images. Therefore, most surgeons suggest them counseling under a psychologist to avoid all their obsessions regarding distorted body images and also prefer to wait until they become the right candidates for liposuction, likely at the age of 18. Today, teenagers prefer to undergo cosmetic surgeries like liposuction. However, only 1% of teenagers have undergone liposuction as of today.
Rhinoplasty
This kind of plastic surgery facial is done to change and improve the look and shape of nose. Rhinoplasty can be done in both genders of any age. However, surgeons often recommend teenagers to wait until they complete all facial growth. Girl will complete their facial growth during their 13-14 age and boys generally make it happen during 14-15 age. Though no minimum age is fixed, surgeons recommend young people until their nose be fully developed.
Laser Eye Surgery
This type of plastic surgery facial also doesn’t demand any specific age criteria. Generally, glass level power remains constantly at the age of 20 to 21. The fundamental aspect to become a good candidate for laser eye surgery is that patient’s glasses or contact lens power should be constant. Though LASIK is safe and reliable for teenagers, it is not highly suggested for most teenagers. However, teenagers can undergo the surgery if their eye power becomes constant, and this happens mostly at the age of 20. If teens do LASIK before their eye power getting stable, then they will need to return and have additional LASIK.
Breast augmentation and Laser hair removal are another two important plastic facial surgery that teenagers generally undergo. Breast augmentation can be performed between the age of 19 and 34. FDA doesn’t allow any kind of cosmetic surgeries on breast under the age of 18. However, if health permits, teenagers can go through breast implant. Laser hair removal is safe for all persons of all ages. However, surgeons suggest teenagers not to undergo this kind of plastic surgery facial as they hair growth system will not be developing during the teenage. So, wait for the right age to reap the complete benefits.
