Introduction

Michael Joseph Jackson, the King of Pop, was not just a recording artist, but also a businessman and one of the most successful entertainer. He is known around the world as MJ and has contributed over four decades to dance, fashion and music. Before his solo career began in 1971, he was a part of The Jackson 5 and The Jacksons. He was born on 29th August 1958 and was the seventh child amongst the nine children of the Jackson family. He passed away on 25th June 2009 due to cardiac arrest. One of the most known and controversial things about him is the Jackson plastic surgery as he had undergone many cosmetic surgeries that altered his facial appearance.

History

Michael Jackson has disclosed that he and his siblings were emotionally and physically abused by their father during childhood. In 2003, his father admitted that he had whipped Jackson when he was young. This is said to be the cause of the body dysmorphic disorder that Jackson developed which led him to feel a compulsion with plastic surgery in an expression of self-mutilation. In the mid-1980s he was diagnosed with vitiligo and lupus which caused his appearance to change greatly. Not only did his skin tone became shades lighter, his nose and facial shape altered and he began losing weight. At first he used make-up to hide the patchy skin but later on, by 1990, he had undergone around ten Jackson plastic surgery.

Where surgeons suspected innumerable and frequent cosmetic surgeries that include rhinoplasties, thinned lips, forehead lift and cheek bone surgery, Jackson denied all of this maintained that he only had surgery on his nose. He is said to have had his first nasal Jackson plastic surgery in 1979 when he somehow broke his nose during a dance routine. This is was not a successful surgery and MJ complained of breathing difficulties and how they might affect his singing adversely. So, in 1980 he had his second nose job. It was mentioned in his biography that he had a dimple created on his chin. From 1986 onwards, Michael Jackson became a regular client of a dermatologist who performed dermal filter injections. Michael Jackson sued a tabloid that ran a front page picture of his face and captioned it ''hideously disfigured'' by Jackson plastic surgery. In 1998 the tabloid agreed to an out of court settlement with the King of Pop.

Jackson denied all allegations of altered eyes, lips and other facial features due to Jackson plastic surgery and has persistently attributed the changes to puberty, his being a strict vegetarian, and to a change of hairstyle as well as stage lighting effects. Michael Jackson was also addicted to drugs and suffered dramatic weight loss both due to an imbalanced diet in order to get achieve dancer's body and also due to stress-related illnesses. He experienced periods of severe health deterioration and he began taking painkillers all the time to alleviate the intense pain. This soon became an addiction. His autopsy revealed punctured arms, lung damage, arthritis. He was partially bald and had tattooed scalp, lips and eyebrows. Whether or not the Jackson plastic surgery is true, Michael Jackson paved the way for modern pop music and his influence was global. He was a genius and he has transformed the world of music and dance.
