History
The Douglas mental health university institute/ Douglas hospital was formed in 1881 by people who saw an unmet need in the Montreal community to help mentally disturbed people. Then these supporters put an advisement on the newspaper to seek funds to construct a new building and some local people of Canada offered donations. The Douglas institute foundation was created in 1972. The Douglas institute foundation’s main purpose was to collect donations, manage the collected amount through the help of volunteers. Now days the foundation is controlled and supported by a board of directors made up of 24 followers who are elected at the foundation’s annual public assembly?
