Introduction
The mental health association of an area (normally a country) can be described as the association which, in the simplest terms, operates for the betterment of mental health of its citizens. Such associations usually operate as non profit with the sole purpose of enhancing other people’s lives or giving back to the community. They are usually formed by trained and qualified professionals of the field the association is based on and so a mental health association would mostly contain members that are seriously renowned professionals in the field of mental health (psychology basically). This includes psychiatrists as well. A mental health association thus offers many services such as conducting research about (since we are considering mental health) mental health of the population in its surrounding areas as well as offer policy advice to the ruling authority on how to correct it. The stated mental health association may also act as a judge on procedures and drugs used as normal practice and verify them, if they are found to be correct according to the field and the law.
History
Associations are, and have long been formed by like minded individuals who gather together and decide to push a point or agenda they think is important but is not being acted upon. Associations are similar to a group and can grow to be an organization but since they are not politically motivated, they never form parties. They always act along side the existing rule, working parallel to it and merely acting as critics of things going on in their respective and chosen field of study. Some associations have gained vast popularity and acclaim for their work and so their services cannot be considered useless. They have been around for quite a while and had they ever been on the wrong side of history which is no less than remarkable.
