Introduction
Grocery shopping is usually not a fun chore for most people. Prices are continuing to sky rocket. For most families the grocery bill is the highest monthly bill. Thankfully there are plenty of ways to save. This will take some planning and organization but your wallet will surely thank you when you start getting more and more store savings.
Step 1
One of the best ways to get store savings is by clipping coupons. You can find couposn by buying a newspaper or looking through the advertisements you get in the mail. This really is not junk mail. It is money saving mail so don't throw it out. Clip those coupons and start your savings at the store. Keep a look out for when your store has double coupon days to save even more.
Step 2
There are many warehouse stores you can become a member of. There is a small annual fee but the store savings more than makes up for it. This is what you call bulk buying. You can carefully plan your monthly meals. Make a list and buy in bulk. You can buy most things in bulk from toilet paper, milk, meat, snacks, and so much more. You can even split the costs with a friend to make your store savings even bigger. This is one of the best ways to save and shopping at a warehouse is a lot more fun than a conventional grocery store.
Step 3
Often times you can shop your local farmers market to get store savings. The grocery stores mark up their prices while local farms and markets that provide their own food can price their foods lower so the savings is past on to you. You will also help your local economy as well as have farm fresh produce that is more nutritious and safer to eat. It's always best to get fresh produce right from the source and what a great way to help the community.
Step 4
You can forget the store savings when you grow your own garden because you won't have to go to the store. For just a few dollars you can buy some seeds, plant them, water them, and watch them grow. It may take a little research on your part but you will save a lot of money by growing a lot of your own fruits, vegetables, and herbs. They don't get any fresher than picking from your very own back yard. If you don't have a back yard you can do a bucket garden and get the same results having fresh food and savings.
Step 5
You will find store savings when you buy food that's about to expire. These foods are marked down in price because they want to sell them quick before they expire and have to get thrown away. You can take it home and either eat it right away or you can freeze it and save it for another time. Either way, you still save.
Step 6
Don't buy brand name foods. By the store brand foods for better savings. The brand names and store names are just about the same just without the fancy label and advertising. The higher prices on brand name foods do not mean better quality all the time so don't let that fool you.
