Introduction
It is so easy to run out of money if you are not keeping a budget. You need to know how much money you make, how many bills you have, how much debt you have, and how much money you need for extras. Budgets are very important but not always easy to stick to. It will take a lot of planning, hard work, dedication, and self control, but if your budget is tight then this is what needs to be done so you do not run out of money before the end of the month. Follow these steps and stick to them and you will no longer run out of money before the end of the month.
Step 1
You will first need to write down all your income that you earn each month. Make sure you are only counting net income and not gross income. Net income is the take home pay after taxes and gross income is your pay before taxes are taken out.
Step 2
Write down what all of your bills are and when they need to be paid. Make sure these get paid first so you do not spend that money on something else that is not an urgent need. This will help to make sure you do not run out of money for your basic bills and it will also insure that they get paid on time.
Step 3
Once you have your main bills paid, you will want to get cash out for groceries, gas, and extra spending money. This is an important step. When you pay with cash only, you cannot spend more than what you have. It is easier to do this if you leave your debit or credit cards at home so you are not tempted to impulse buy.
Step 4
Now that you have your grocery and gas money out in cash, make a list of the groceries you will be buying and only buy what is on the list. It helps to plan out your meals as well so you have on hand what you need. This will cut down on how many trips you make to the grocery store so you will spend less money and use less gas for your car.
Step 5
If you need extra money once your necessities are met, then try to find a part time job or pick up extra hours at work. Sell extra things around the house that you no longer use or need to get the extra cash that you want. This will help so you don't feel like you are running out of money.
Tips
Use a cash only system.
Make a grocery list.
Make a meal plan.
Write down all your bills and monthly income.
Spend more time with the family at home instead of going out spending money.
You may find that once your bills are paid, groceries are bought, and gas is put in the car that you have no money left. This can be a good thing because at least all your needs have been met. If you need more money then pick up extra shifts at work or find a part time job. You can even try to sell things around that house that you no longer use or need.
