Introduction
Clip in hair extensions have seemingly become more and more popular over the last few years. Hair extensions allow a woman to add length, color, high lights and low lights to her natural hair. Clip in hair extensions can be a bit difficult to put in correctly on your first shot. However, once you've successfully done it a couple times, it'll be like second nature to you.
Step 1
The very first step to putting in clip in hair extensions is to make sure your hair is prepped. This means your hair should be completely washed, conditioned and thoroughly combed. You then will need to properly blow dry your hair or wait until it dries naturally. In the mean time, prepare some normal hair clips to use in the second step.
Step 2
The second step to putting in clip in hair extensions is to clip up your hair, besides a bottom layer. Your hair should be up all the way for the most part. Using a comb, make sure you make a straight part horizontally with the comb. You then will need to open up the track (the hair extension) and place it as close to the scalp as possible. Once it's in a position you're satisfied with and it's tightened in, begin closing the clips on the hair extension.
Step 3
After you've gotten the first of your clip in hair extensions in, you'll then need to repeat the process by making another part, right above the first horizontal part. Make sure it's straight. You then will need to place another clip in hair extension tightly and firmly into your hair, as close to the scalp as you can go comfortably.
Step 4
The fourth step is to make sure you've put in all the clip in hair extensions. Once they are all in properly and feel secure on your head, you'll need to style your hair. You will want to use a holding spray or hair spray, spray generously across the hair to ensure firmness.
Step 5
Lastly, use a comb to test out the clip in hair extensions. Give your hair a good brush, just to see if any of the clip in hair extensions are loosely fitted. If so, redo that particular clip in hair extension and test it out once again.
Who Can Use Clip In Hair Extensions?
Practically anyone can use clip in hair extensions. However, clip in hair extensions will work better on those with medium to thick textured hair. If your hair is too fine, the extensions will most likely not stay on securely. Those with shorter hair should get their hair extensions done by a professional as it requires more skill and preparation.
Where To Purchase Clip in Hair Extensions
You can purchase clip in hair extensions from most major hair care and beauty stores. Stores like Sally Beauty Supply are known to carry dependable clip in hair extensions. Make sure the clip in hair extensions are as close to your natural hair as possible. This means they should be the same color as your natural hair, the same texture and the same length.
