Duration: Choose clothing items that will last the length of your hike. How long will your hike last? If you intend to set camp at night, then it is preferable to carry an extra set with you. If you hike will last for more than 2 days, then you might need to carry more sets of clothing items. If you carry too many clothes, this will add to the weight of your rucksack. If you do not carry enough clothes, then you might develop bruises and rashes from wearing the same clothes every day. At least carry 2 or 3 sets of underwear if you plan to go hiking for more than 2 days.

Glucose helps in energizing the body in case there is a shortage of food. Also, carry a map and a compass. A mobile phone is also essential but many times the network in rural areas is sporadic.

Mobility: Wear clothing items that enable you to move around comfortably. Low waist jeans which obstruct you from raising your legs too high are a big no.
