Blood cancers

Blood cancers are types of cancer that have an effect upon the production and operation of human blood cells. Basically, there are 4 types of cancer blood and it depends upon the degree of disease and the source of the impacted blood cells. Based upon affected blood cells, cancer blood is divided into 4 types.

Acute Lymphocytic or Lymphoblastic Leukemias

Shortly called as ALL, this kind of cancer blood is caused due to excess presence of lymphoblasts in white blood cells. Normal rate of white blood cells helps for body protection, but when cancer affects these bloods cells, they are developed beyond normal rate, which is a threat for other normal cells. They also quickly increase in number and cancer spreads to other fresh parts of the body keeping the lymph node as the source. Thus, it causes death of the patients. ALL mostly affects kids and children of 2-5 years old and aged people of above 65 years. As per records, 50% adults and 85% children survived this cancer blood type through treatment methods like chemotherapy and radiation. ALL has few more sub-types including Precursor B acute lymphoblastic leukemia, Burkitt’s leukemia, Acute biphenotypic leukemia and Precursor T acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Chronic Lymphocytic or Lymphoblastic Leukemias

Briefly known as CLL, this cancer blood type mainly causes because of the gradual rise in the creation of B cells. Actually B cells are developed to create content in the blood that could safeguard the human body from malady-causing organisms. Belonging to the immune organism, B cells helps a lot for protecting body from becoming prone to certain diseases. CLL mostly affects elderly people above 55 years. Of the total number of affected people, two-thirds would be men. Unfortunately, there is no treatment option available for this cancer blood type and doctors provide only 5 year survival guarantee for patients. CLL is rare among adults and kids are never impacted by it. Sub-types of CLL include B-cell prolymphocytic leukemia.

Acute Myelogenous or Myeloid Leukemias

Also called as AML, this cancer blood type causes when the white blood cells strangely develop in bone marrow and interrupt the manufacturing of standard blood cells. This kind of blood cancer is relatively rare and is common in male and female. Though chemotherapy treatments are available, it guarantees 5 year survival for around 40% patients. In US, around 1.2% deaths cause due to this cancer blood type. Kids and children are seldom impacted by it and the causes of AML are unknown. Sub-cases of AML include Acute promyelocytic leukemia, Acute myeloblastic leukemia and Acute megakaryoblastic leukemia.

Chronic Myelogenous or Myeloid Leukemias

Shortly named as CML, this cancer blood type occurs when the unnatural white blood cells locating in bone marrow are manufactured at an abnormal rate before they get into the bloodstream. Adults are mostly affected by this kind of cancer and children are seldom reported. 90% patients are guaranteed with 5 year survival if they use anti-cancer medicines like Imatinib. Sub-types of CML include chronic monocytic leukemia.
